An article in INC. Magazine Nov. 2003 warns, “Moves against phone-based marketing is just the beginning. Because of positive consumer response to the Do-Not-Call List, Washington watchers expect all forms of marketing to come under fire one-by-one because, it’s a no-lose situation for politicians.”

The only answer is to change Public Opinion. Only Public Opinion will put a halt to no-contact laws.

How do we change Public Opinion? My Answer is, point out to the public, how supporting No-Contact Laws makes the Individual less free by restricting the exchange of information.

Americans take their freedom seriously. If we can show Americans how, No-Contact Laws erode their freedom and show how, “Big Brother” is manipulating the laws for greater control, we have an issue the public can get behind.

I have written two open letters on this Blog that demonstrates the approach I would use. One is titled “Who is putting the stranglehold on Small Business Advertising?” The other is titled, “Free People are Free because they know what Freedom is! 

Are you interested in helping to get the message out? I want to start a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) for the purpose of influencing No-Contact Laws. The premise is: How can you have free choice, if information about free choices, is restricted or controlled?

An individual should have access to free information by any manner he or she chooses. No law should interfere with that right. Should a law interfere, an individual should be given the opportunity to opt-out of such a law, by listing their contact information in a place accessible to the list of information providers who they want to give permission to contact. The Non-Profit Organization would provide a website as a place to opt-out of no contact laws and opt-in to freedom of information.

I need help with this project. I have never run a not for profit organization and I don’t want to run this one for very long. I might not even be the best person to start it but I don’t see anyone else stepping forward. However, I do have all the skills needed to get the project up and running. Plus, I am actively searching for valuable work to do. I am not a fan of non-profit. But, this project needs to be non-profit because of its purpose and also to take advantage of NPO status relative to No-Contact Laws.

The bottom line is, we can do this, if the project can get financing. I would suggest, with a well supported NPO, we could get our opinion known. What help can you contribute? I’m pretty sure donations will be tax deductible. The attorney(s) who set up the NPO will give full tax information. At this time I am only asking for a pledge of support.

Did you know, it is some form of illegal, to phone, fax, email or distribute flyers to advertise your product or service?

The only legal way to advertise is through the media – Broadcast, Cable or Print.

Forget web pages, they are for sales-support, not advertising. Web Pages only reach people who choose to visit your site – and visitors, can be few and far between. Banner Ads and other Internet Ideas are just that – Ideas- but, they still can cost more then the small-time operator can afford.

For centuries small businesses have at least been able to hand out flyers. But now, I read in the newspapers, police are cracking down on flyer distribution. They want you to be finger printed and photographed and purchase a permit to hand out flyers???

There has got to be a plot to destroy small business and I’d like to know who is behind it.

And… Why is none of the Media mentioning this nefarious scheme?

Am I the only one who can see, that with “by the sweat of your brow” advertising loopholes closed, you’re forced to go to established media?

Oops, is that the same media that pays Editors to say nothing?

Small Business is losing access to the public and, the public that signs for or goes along with, information access restrictions like the National, Do-Not-Call List, is giving up the right to know about alternates to big business Policies and Prices.

I am writing to you because you are in a position to tell other Leaders about ways to Motivate Community Participation in Community Service to make it safer for us all.

By motivating the community to participate in community service we gain Heroes!  We get people committed to stopping drug activity on their block. We get people to pick up trash in public places. We get people who find jobs for teenagers and get them off the street.

One way to motivate community participation is to have a system in place to recognize the efforts of every individual that contributes to the community good.

Behavioral Psychologists say; positive-reinforcement of the right kind at the right time can increase productive behavior.  They suggest that the best reinforcement can often be simple recognition for a job well done.

The problem is; acquiring and maintaining the data to reinforce the right person with the right recognition at the right time.

I offer a solution to the Merit Recognition problem that includes desktop and web-based software to manage performance data and to provide motivating reinforcement. The solution is called Merits4U. You can get full information and download a trial version from my website www.DesktopMagic.com.

If you restrict the flow of information, how can you know what freedom is available to you?

How can you have free choices, if information about free choices is controlled?

Now, your Free Choices are the choices I give you – because the only freedom you know is what I tell you about.

Americans, please don’t give up your right to know. Don’t give up your access to Free Information by shutting yourself behind “Do Not Contact Laws”.

You’ll find yourself in the clutches of “Big Brother” who will decide what is best for you.

If you don’t want to be contacted, fine. But, take the second or two it takes to say no and disconnect. Don’t make a law against the contact. That’s abrogating your right to be free.

How can I warn you “The British Are Coming” if you’re hiding behind laws that say Don’t Call, Fax or Email. If you think I’m going to pay “Big Brother’s” Media to take out an ad to warn your lazy ass, you will end up a lot less free.
